Birthstones are unique gems that are thought to symbolize a person’s character depending on which month they were born. Birthstone-based jewelry are beautiful, thoughtful; and memorable gifts. Which stone represents your month? Today, we are going to take a look at each month’s gemstone and what they are said to represent.

January: 

Garnets — A beautiful, reddish hue is the most common color for a garnet; however, garnets can come in a variety of colors. It is said that garnets are used to represent love and friendship. 

February:

Amethyst — These gemstones come in lovely shades of purple, and some variations even have pink undertones. Amethysts are thought to represent courage, trust, and tranquility.

March:

Aquamarine — These magnificent gemstones come in several varieties of blue. From bluish-green to a soft, semi-translucent blue, these gems are thought to stand for health and hope.

April:

Diamond — Diamonds are one of the most stunning and widely known gemstones around the world. Diamonds can also come in a variety of colors, such as pink and brown. They are thought to represent long-life, clarity, and love.

May:

Emerald — An emerald gemstone comes in an elegant array of green hues. Although an emerald can come in several shades of green, the highest quality emerald will have a vivid, darker green. It is said that emeralds express harmony, youth, and renewal.

June:

Pearl & Alexandrite — June is one of the months that has been given two official birthstones: the pearl and the alexandrite. Pearls were historically the first official birthstone of June. They are smooth, round, and created by aquatic creatures. They also can come in a variety of colors. An alexandrite is a gemstone that comes in vibrant colors of blue, green, and even purple. Pearls are thought to depict serenity and purity. Alexandrites are said to represent power and loyalty. 

July:

Ruby — Rubies are exquisite gemstones that are usually in red shades. However, some rubies have been pink, orange, and purple in hue. It is thought that rubies depict love, wealth, and peace.

August:

Peridot — Peridot gemstones come in wonderful shades of green, with some stones containing yellow or brown. However, green peridots are considered to be rare and valuable. These gems are said to symbolize strength, good sense, and luck.

September:

Sapphire — Blue is the most common color for these amazing gems. Sapphires are also one of the most popular gemstones. It is said that sapphires represent integrity, purity, and faith.

October:

Opal & Tourmaline — October is another month that has two official birthstones: the opal and the tourmaline. Opals come in a variety of colors; they have a base color with splashes of spectral colors, which can consist of the rainbow. Tourmaline gemstones, however, consists of translucent hues ranging from red, yellow, and even blue variations. It is said that opal depicts devotion and happiness; while tourmalines are associated with self-confidence and understanding.

November:

Citrine & Topaz — November is the third month that has two gemstones as well: the citrine and the topaz. Citrine gemstones have fantastic shades of orange and yellow. In contrast, topaz comes in several semi-transparent colors, with the most popular being a heavenly blue. Citrines are thought to symbolize joy and abundance; while topaz is depicted as honesty and friendship.

December:

Turquoise, Zircon, & Tanzanite — December has been given three different birthstones: the turquoise, the zircon, and the tanzanite. Turquoise is the traditional birthstone for December and is characterized by several elegant shades of light blue. Zircon, another gem for December, comes in a variety of stunning fluoresce colors — ranging from shades of blue, brown, and yellow. The last gemstone for December is tanzanite; this gem is commonly seen with glamorous hues of blue and violet. Turquoise is known for representing healing, tranquility, and energy. Zircon depicts good fortune and healing. And tanzanite is said to symbolize patience, loyalty, and respect.
